If any musician on the local Denver scene deserves the moniker of legend, it would have to be René Heredia. Simply put, the man is a living history of the art of Gypsy Flamenco guitar. He is both a link to its glorious past, through his early association with legendary greats such as Carlos Montoya and Sabicas, and a bridge to its future through his love of teaching and performance…. René is the choreographer for all of the solo and group dances for Gypsy Flamenco Fire (the premiere Flamenco dance company of Colorado), and expertly provides guitar accompaniment for the diverse company of dancers. The interplay of live guitar, percussion, intricate footwork, exotic brazeo (arm movements), contra tiempo (counter rhythms) and jaleo (vocal encouragement), make for an exciting, one of a kind experience of music and dance from Spain.
